Lyttelton local, Hannah Beerhre was announced as the 2016 winner of the Parkin Drawing Award on Tuesday. The award and $20,000 cash prize is sponsored by Chris Parkin, arts patron and philanthropist.
Hannah’s work The Catastrophe was chosen as the winner from 429 entries nationwide and 90 finalists at the New Zealand Academy of Fine Arts.
The Parkin Prize is a national award and an annual exhibition held at the New Zealand Academy of Fine Arts. Each year the winning entry will be purchased and added to a unique collection of drawings by New Zealand artists.
Hannah was also a recipient of the Highly Commended prize in last year’s Parkin Drawing Prize, is an artist and designer whose practice ranges across a variety of media, including drawing, installation, and painting.
