The New Zealand Antarctic Society has commissioned and printed 1000 copies of a new book of Douglas Stewart’s 1948 epic poem based on Frank Worsley’s journey with Sir Ernest Shackleton from Elephant Island to South Georgia in 1915 – 1916.
Titled Worsley Enchanted, the book is illustrated with original line drawings by Myra Walton (National Secretary of the Society). Half A4 size, it has 28 pages and saddle stitched covers. It includes all Douglas Stewart’s original verses. Stewart was a New Zealander who settled in Australia and was highly regarded as a poet, short story writer, essayist and literary editor.
Worsley enchanted is available from Leslie’s Bookshop for $15 and the Information Centre will also have it soon.
